Program Structure

Students must complete 72 UOC when taken as a standalone program.

Students can choose to complete either one or two specialisations as follows. 

One Specialisation

  • COMM5999 (0 UOC)
  • MGMT5050 (6 UOC)
  • Data analysis course (6 UOC)
  • Specialisation (24 UOC)
  • Electives (30 UOC) - up to 2 courses can be postgraduate courses from other Faculties, subject to enrolment requirements
  • Capstone course (6 UOC)

  • MGMT5050 (6 UOC)

Electives
Students completing specialisations in Digital Transformation, Cybersecurity, Risk and Analytics, Economics and Finance, Marketing Analytics, and Risk Management are strongly recommended to complete COMM5007 Coding for Business as an elective course to complement their specialisations.

Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP) Master of Commerce is an academic partner of Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP). The curriculum of risk management courses has been structured to align with the learning objectives outlined by GARP for risk management certification, Financial Risk Manager (FRM®) Certification. Recognition of Achievement

Award with Excellence

The Award with Excellence is awarded in coursework masters programs, including Masters (Extension) but with the exception of Masters (Extended) such as JD and MD, when a Weighted Average Mean (WAM) of at least 80% has been achieved and at least 50% of the requirements of the award are completed at UNSW. All eligible programs will award 'with Excellence' except in special circumstances where approval of Academic Board has been given for a program to opt out.
