This program allows you to graduate with both Masters after three years, with students with advanced standing able to complete both degrees up to a year and a half sooner. You may be eligible for up to 72 Units of Credit depending on your background: For the Commerce component, up to 24 Units of Credit may be awarded based on your previous Business studies (at Bachelor level or higher). For the Information Technology component, between 24 and 48 Units of Credit may be awarded: If you have a 4 year software or computer engineering degree or the equivalent, accredited under the Seoul Accord, that includes 1) a final year/capstone design or research project (the equivalent of 2 semesters or 3 terms of study), 2) a project management course, and 3) at least two computing courses covering data structures and algorithms (or work experience with sufficient experience to data structures and algorithms) you will be given 48 Units of CreditIf you have a 4 year software or computer engineering degree or the equivalent, that is not accredited, and includes 1) a final year/capstone design or research project (the equivalent of 2 semesters or 3 terms of study), 2) a project management course, and 3) at least two computing courses covering data structures and algorithms (or work experience with sufficient experience to data structures and algorithms) you will be given 24 Units of CreditIf you have a 3 year Bachelor of Computer Science degree or the equivalent, accredited under the Seoul accord, that includes 1) a final year/capstone design or research project (the equivalent of 2 semesters or 3 terms of study), 2) a project management course, and 3) at least two computing courses covering data structures and algorithms, and 4) three or more years professional work experience in a role such as Software Engineer, Software Developer, Software Architect, Data Analyst, Machine Learning Engineer, Senior Applications Engineer, or Data Engineer you will be given 24 Units of Credit* *Graduates from the UNSW Bachelor of Computer Science will have their credit assessed separately You’ll be notified of the credits in your official letter of offer. The amount of credit awarded will reduce your overall degree duration by up to one and a half years. Entry Requirements Entry to the combined Master of Information Technology/Master of Commerce requires one of the following: a three year undergraduate degree equivalent to a standard Australian bachelor degree in a discipline including at least three mathematics courses, and a minimum 65% average.completion of a 3 year BSc in Computer Science or Bioinformatics (or cognate discipline) at UNSW or equivalent, and a minimum 65% average.completion of the Graduate Diploma in Information Technology, and a minimum 65% average.completion of the Graduate Certificate in Computing, and a minimum 65% average. Recognition of Prior Learning restrictions: Students can apply for a maximum of 72 UOC of Advanced Standing - a maximum of 24 UOC in the Commerce component and a maximum of 48 UOC in the Information Technology component

Double Counting: Up to 24 UOC can be double counted towards the requirements of both programs, as follows:

  1. 6uoc from completing the project course (e.g. COMP9900) in the Master of Information Technology (MIT) can be double counted towards the Capstone course requirement in the Master of Commerce
  2. 6uoc from completing GSOE9820 (project management) in the MIT can be double counted towards the Master of Commerce MGMT5050 requirement
  3. Up to 12 UOC, in any combination, from:
    1. 0-12 UOC: Courses required for the MIT that can double count towards specific Master of Commerce specialisations
