Learning Outcomes
1.
Demonstrate knowledge of core concepts in biology and the interdisciplinary connections with other sciences that sustain biological systems.
2.
Explain the role of biodiversity in biological processes and systems
3.
Explain the relevance of biological concepts and biodiversity to contemporary environmental issues and management.
4.
Recognise the scope of biological diversity and the phylogenetic relationships among major groups of organisms.
5.
Describe the principles and mechanisms of evolution at the molecular and organismal levels, and the role of evolution as the central unifying concept in biology.
6.
Explain how organisms adapt and populations and communities are altered because of environmental disturbance or change.
7.
Implement experiments, analyse and interpret data and report research outcomes.
8.
Competently use and apply established and emerging techniques in the field of biology to retrieve, manipulate, transform and present scientific data and information.
