Handbook

There are two pathways for entry and a third exceptional pathway:  

1. Applicants must have
a) A three year undergraduate degree in a field relevant to public health, global health or health management (see list below)*
and 
b) Two years of full-time professional or volunteer experience in a relevant field (see list below)**. The professional experience may include experience in health or public health services acquired as part of a degree of 4 or more years duration, e.g. MBBS, MD.  

OR  

2. Applicants must have
a) An undergraduate degree plus an honours
or 
b) Postgraduate degree in a field relevant to public health, global health or health management (see list below)*  

OR 

3. In exceptional circumstances, applications will be considered for entry when they have extensive professional health or public health experience but do not hold a relevant degree qualification. A minimum of five years full-time relevant professional experience is required and an interview with the School of Population Health may be conducted. 

*Fields of study that are relevant include, but are not restricted to, medicine, nursing, allied health, health sciences, biomedical sciences, dentistry, sociology, behavioural and social sciences, social work, psychology, marketing, human services, emergency services, environmental health, veterinary science, health administration, business, management, engineering, law, science, mathematics and statistics, economics, policy studies and development studies  

** Fields of professional experience that are relevant include, but are not restricted to roles in health (including allied health, medicine, nursing, oral health, public health, environmental health, psychology) and human services (e.g. social work, community development, service navigation, case management) service provision or management, experience in roles that have involved working on health-related activities, e.g. jobs in emergency services, management, research, engineering, law, science, mathematics and statistics, economics, journalism or policy roles where you have been working on health.  

Applications will be assessed in accordance with the UNSW Recognition of Prior Learning Policy and Procedure. 

Application Procedure 

For Australian citizens, permanent residents and New Zealand citizens, applications for postgraduate coursework programs at the School of Population Health are online through the Universities Admissions Centre (UAC). 

For international students, applications for postgraduate coursework programs at the School of Population Health are online through UNSW Apply Online. 

The program is accredited by the Australasian College of Health Services Management (2022).
