This program allows you to graduate with both Masters after three years, with students with advanced standing able to complete their studies up to a year and a half sooner. You may be eligible for up to 72 Units of Credit depending on your background: For the Commerce component, up to 24 Units of Credit may be awarded based on your previous Business studies (at Bachelor level or higher). For the Engineering Science component, up to 48 Units of Credit may be awarded: If you have a four year engineering degree in a cognate area that includes a final year capstone design or research project and a project management course you will be given 24 Units of CreditIf you have a four year engineering degree in a cognate area that includes a final year capstone design or research project and a project management course, AND at least 3 years of professional engineering work experience you will be given 48 Units of CreditIf you have an Australian 4-year Engineering Degree or an equivalent degree accredited under the Washington Accord in a cognate area you will be given 48 Units of CreditRPL may be obtained for other courses upon application. You’ll be notified of the credits in your official letter of offer. The amount of credit awarded can reduce your overall degree duration by up to one and a half years. Entry Requirements Entry to the combined Master of Engineering Science/Master of Commerce requires one of the following: A recognised 4-year Bachelor degree in an appropriate area of engineering with a minimum 65% average; orCompletion of the 5341 UNSW Graduate Diploma in Engineering Science with a minimum 65% average; orCompletion of the 7320 UNSW Graduate Certificate in Engineering Science with a minimum 65% average. Recognition of Prior Learning

Students can apply for a maximum of 72 UOC of Advanced Standing - a maximum of 24 UOC in the Commerce component and a maximum of 48 UOC in the Engineering Science component

Double Counting

Up to 24 UOC can be double counted towards the requirements of both programs, as follows:

  • 6 UOC from the core course in the Master of Commerce, MGMT5050, can be double counted as 6 UOC in the Master of Engineering Science (equivalent to GSOE9510 or GSOE9820)
  • 6 UOC from the core course in the Master of Commerce, ECON5103, can be double counted as 6 UOC in the Master of Engineering Science (equivalent to GSOE9830 or CVEN9701 or CEIC8204)
  • 6 UOC from completing the research thesis in the Master of Engineering Science can be double counted towards the Capstone course requirement in the Master of Commerce

6 UOC from the following list of courses in the Master of Engineering Science can be double counted towards the Master of Commerce as a 6 UOC Commerce Elective:
