Internship, Placement and Exchange Opportunities

Students are required to complete a 6 UOC internship or strategic business project to qualify for the award of this qualification. Internships and strategic business projects will be sourced for students by the UNSW Business School career accelerator team and will be overseen and managed by an academic advisor. These internships will be for credit, unpaid and primarily educational in nature. In most instances these internships and projects will be with commercial entities but students may also have the opportunity to undertake internships with not for profit organisations and social enterprises is they wish to. Students may have the opportunity to source their own internships but their suitability will be assessed by the student opportunities team using strict criteria to ensure that they meet the required standards and the aims of the program.

The UNSW Business School career accelerator team has well developed policies and procedures for sourcing and managing these projects. It also has implemented a technology platform that allows internships and projects to be effectively monitored and managed.

There are no special arrangements in place for supervising and assessing international students undertaking placements. It is envisaged that the majority of internships and strategic consulting projects will take place in Australia.

The work experience component of the degree comprises the capstone experience and can only be completed after a student has completed at least 48 UOC . Students enrolled in the Industry Experience course are expected to complete their work experience component in a six week term. In line with standard expectations, students are expected no more than 140 hours involved in their internships or strategic consulting project and on learning activities associated with this element of the program over this six week period.
