In a collaborative arrangement between Faculty of Built Environment, peak industry associations, and other faculties, UNSW offers the MPD program. The program should appeal to people seeking careers in development, investment and management of property and infrastructure and the professions that serve this industry. It also provides valuable education to those seeking a broader base to careers in architecture and landscape architecture, construction, engineering, urban planning and law

On completion of the program (7127), students with grades of credit average or above may apply to upgrade to the Master of Property and Development program (8127) with full credits for the completed courses.

This Master of Property and Development is accredited by the Australian Property Institute (API) for satisfying the academic requirements for the following memberships: For students first enrolled in the program during 1 January 2014 to 31 December 2018 and who complete the program: Associate Membership For students first enrolled in the program during 1 January 2019 to 31 December 2023: and who complete the program: Associate Membership with the following certifications: • Certified Development Practitioner (CDP) • Certified Property Practitioner (CPP) • Certified Facilities Manager (CFacM): only applicable to graduates who will have satisfactorily completed REST0007 Asset and Facilities Management.

The Award with Excellence is awarded in coursework masters programs, including Masters (Extension) but with the exception of Masters (Extended) such as JD and MD, when a Weighted Average Mean (WAM) of at least 80% has been achieved and at least 50% of the requirements of the award are completed at UNSW. All eligible programs will award 'with Excellence' except in special circumstances where approval of Academic Board has been given for a program to opt out.
