The Climate Systems Science minor provides an introduction to the science of the Earth's climate system. Students will learn the fundamentals of the atmosphere, ocean and land processes, and how these inform our understanding of climate change. This minor will provide a foundation of climate systems that is relevant and valuable for all science disciplines.

Learning Outcomes

1.
Understand the key drivers of the climate system, interactions between climate system components and the mechanisms involved in climate, weather extremes, and anthropogenic climate change.
2.
Evaluate the anticipated impacts and risks of climate change to natural and human systems.
3.
Analyse multiple data products and model output to evaluate present and past climates and project future climate under different greenhouse gas emissions and other external forcing scenarios.
4.
Be able to separate fact from fiction, greenwashing from legitimate activity across the climate change, climate impacts and climate adaptation sectors.
