Advanced skills in English composition, including the ability to organise ideas effectively in a long written work

Advanced skills in literary analysis and close reading, supported by a sophisticated understanding of the production and reception of diverse literary works

Intensive knowledge of significant periods and branches of literature in English, and the bearing of literary periodization on major literary works
6.
Ability to synthesize complex material from a large number of sources into an informed and thoughtful argument, demonstrating some original insights
7.
Ability to engage with debates in literary and textual studies, including familiarity with relevant theories, methodologies and interdisciplinary approaches
