Specialisation Structure
Students must complete 36 UOC.
If you commence at Introductory A level you must complete 36 UOC of the following courses:
- Introductory Language Core (12 UOC)
- Intermediate Language Core (12 UOC)
- Advanced Language Core (12 UOC)
If you commence the language studies sequence at Introductory Japanese B, you must go on to complete Advanced Japanese B. In order to have the 36 UOC for the extended minor you must complete 6 UOC in a contextual course (taught in English).
If you commence at Intermediate A level you must complete 36 UOC of the following courses:
- Intermediate Language Core (12 UOC)
- Advanced Language Core (12 UOC)
- Contextual and/or Professional Studies Courses (12 UOC)
If you commence the language studies sequence at Intermediate Japanese B, you must go on to complete Advanced B. In order to have the 36 UOC for the extended minor you must complete a further 18 UOC in contextual courses (taught in English) or Professional Japanese A or B.

Language Studies for Commencing Mid-Year Students
If your language skills are assessed as Level A in Introductory, Intermediate, Advanced or Professional you cannot commence study until Term 1.
