Students must complete 60 UOC.
Core Courses List A
Students must complete 36 UOC of List A core courses.
Please note: Students completing a second major in Mathematics or statistics or in the following combined programs: Economics/Actuarial Studies, Economics/Adv Math (Hons), Economis/Science and Economics/Adv Science (Hons). If you complete the sequence MATH1131/MATH1231 or MATH1141/MATH1241 or MATH1151/MATH1251; the completion of ECON1202 and ECON1203 is not required for the major.
With a few of the Science specialisations only one MATH course is required, in which case students will be required to complete one of either ECON1202 or ECON1203.
Bachelor of Politics, Philosophy and Economics (Program 3478) students will be able to substitute ECON2403 (Empirical Methods) for ECON1203.
Core Courses List B (Economics)
Students must complete 12 UOC of List B core courses.
Note: The course ECON3208 is a core component of both the Economics and Econometrics majors. If a student takes these majors together, the course ECON3208 will be counted only towards the Econometrics major, and an additional elective course from the list of prescribed electives must be completed in the Economics major.
Prescribed Electives
Students must complete 12 UOC of Prescribed Electives.
Students completing a major in Economics together with a major in Econometrics must complete an additional 6 UOC elective (18 UOC total). This is because the core course ECON3208 is common to both majors and only count towards the Econometrics stream.
Please note: an elective can only count towards one major.

Students must complete a minimum of 18 UOC of the following courses.

Honours
Honours level study is available for students completing the Economics major. The following courses are recommended as a good preparation for Honours:
- One of ECON3101; or ECON3121; or ECON3123
- ECON3104 International Macroeconomics
- ECON3202 Mathematics Economics
Students interested in studying at Honours Level should refer to the relevant Honours plan record for entry requirement.
