Students commencing prior to 2021 should refer to the program rules for the year they started.

The Bachelor of Social Work (Honours)/Social Science is a 5.5-year Dual degree. The BSW Hons BSocSci provides an opportunity for students to undertake the courses required for the Bachelor of Social Work (Honours) program, as well as the core program of study in social science, policy analysis and research methods, including a major in a particular social science discipline.

Double Counting

Four of the core courses (24 UOC) in Social Science, SOSS1000, SOSS1001, SOSS3003 and ARTS2871 are also part of the core for Social Work (Honours). Therefore these four courses will be double counted towards this double degree.

A further 12 UOC of the core courses in Social Science, SOSS3006 and CDEV1112, have similar content to SOCW3012, SOC3013 and SOCW3009. Therefore these two courses will be substituted with 12 UOC of Social Science Electives.
