Overview

The Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences offer a dual degree program which qualifies students for two degrees after the equivalent of five and a half years of successful full-time study leading to the award of the degrees Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) and Bachelor of … For more content click the Read More button below. The Faculty of Engineering administers the program, and delegates administration to the School which offers the Engineering discipline selected. Students should seek advice from the relevant School Office in the first instance, or from the Faculty of Engineering. All programs must be approved by both the Faculty of Engineering and the Faculty of Arts and Social Sciences.

Double Degree Structure
264 Units of Credit:

Students must complete 264 UOC.

Bachelor of Arts (96 UOC)
1. A home major stream (60 UOC)
2. A minor stream (24 UOC)
3. Arts and Social Sciences Prescribed Electives (12 UOC)

Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) (168 UOC)
1. 168 UOC plus at least 60 days of approved Industrial Training experience
2. At least 48 UOC Disciplinary Knowledge and Enquiry-based Courses
3. 30-42UOC Introductory Knowledge core courses
4. At least 12 UOC of elective courses
5. The balance of stream to consist of Foundation Disciplinary Knowledge Courses

Optional External Minors
3409 - Arts

External Minors

If you are enrolled in a dual award program, you cannot complete a minor stream in the same Faculty as your second program of study e.g. students enrolled in the BA/BArt Theory, cannot complete an external minor in Art History and Theory.

You will need to take extra UOC over 96 UOC to meet the requirements of an external minor that is greater than 24 UOC. External majors are not available in dual programs.

MATHB2 is only available in 3961 Engineering (Honours)/Arts

Arts and Social Sciences Prescribed Electives
3409 - Arts

You must complete 12 UOC of any courses offered by UNSW Arts and Social Sciences. Indigenous Studies courses (ATSIxxxx) cannot be studied as Arts and Social Sciences Prescribed Electives.

Level 3 Maturity Requirements

Students must have completed 42 UOC before taking any of the following courses.

Mathematics for Engineers minor

The Mathematics for Engineers minor (MATHB2) is only available in this program. Students must complete 24 units of credit of MATH courses, with at least 12 units of credit at level 2. Industrial Experience Requirement
3707 - Engineering (Honours)

Students must each complete at least 60 days approved industrial training concurrent with enrolment in the program.

Academic Writing & Language Enhancement
3409 - Arts

ARTS2050 Academic Writing for the Humanities (6 UOC) and HUMS1005 Personalised English Language Enhancement (6 UOC) can be counted as UNSW Arts and Social Sciences Prescribed Electives or Free Electives.

Double Majors
3409 - Arts

Double majors are not available in Dual mode.

Maturity Requirements
3409 - Arts

You must have completed 24 UOC before taking any Level 2 courses.You must have completed 48 UOC, including 6 UOC at Level 1 and 6 UOC at Level 2 in your major/minor before taking any Level 3 courses.

Specialisation Declaration
3409 - Arts

You must specify your major and minor at the time of enrolment in Level 2 courses.
