Stand Alone Programs
Double Degree Structure192 Units of Credit:
Students must complete 192 UOC.
Bachelor of Commerce/Information Systems degree normally consists of 192UOC.
These UOC are made up of:
1. Compulsory Commerce Core Courses (24 UOC) (Please note: Students have the option to complete ECON1203 or MATH1041)
2. Flexible core course (18 UOC) (Please note: INFS1602 will be completed under the Information Systems Core Courses therefore students must choose 3 flexible core courses)
3. Information Systems Core Courses (72 UOC)
4. Commerce Major (42 UOC) (Please note: For the majority of majors, students will complete 42 UOC as 6 UOC will be completed under the core or flexible core courses, except for students completing Accounting or Real Estate Studies majors)
5. Business School Elective (24 UOC) (Please note: This will depend on the chosen major)
6. General Education (12 UOC)

Business Majors3502 - Commerce
Major Requirements: 48 UOC in an approved disciplinary stream containing at least 18 UOC at level 3. (Note that the 48 UOC includes the first disciplinary course(s) in the Core (Compulsory or Flexible). This means that, for the majority of majors, students will complete 42 UOC in specified disciplinary courses outside the core, (except for the Real Estate Studies major.)
Please Note:
-The Business Law major (TABLA1) is not available to students enrolled in 4733 Commerce/Law.
- Commerce/Education (secondary) 3462 students can only choose one major from:
(a) Business Economics
(b) Financial Economics
(c) Business Strategy and Economic Management
Minors3502 - Commerce
Students must complete at least 24 and no more than 30 of the specialisations below.
Business Core Courses3502 - Commerce
Students must take 24 UOC of the following courses
ECON1203 is not required for:
- Commerce/Information systems students have the option to take ECON1203 or MATH1041
- Actuarial/Commerce student take MATH1151 and MATH1251 in place of ECON1203
- Commerce/Economics student ECON1203 is completed part of the Economics Major requirements.
Business Core Courses3979 - Information Systems
Students must complete 24 UOC of the following courses.
Please note: Students have the option to complete either ECON1203 or MATH1041 for their Business Core Course requirement but should not complete both.
Information Systems core courses3979 - Information Systems
Students must take 72 UOC of the following courses.
Flexible Core Courses3502 - Commerce
Students must take at least 24 UOC of the following courses.
Business School electives3502 - Commerce
UOC remaining after completion of the Compulsory core, Flexible core and Major requirements for the following double degree should be taken from within the UNSW Business School to ensure minimum program requirements are met.
- Commerce/Information Systems 3584 (24-30UOC in UNSW Business School courses to ensure a student completes a minimum of 96UOC of Business courses within the Bachelor of Commerce. The exact number of courses to complete will depend on the major chosen.)
- Actuarial studies/Commerce 3155 (42-48UOC These courses must be taken from Actuarial Studies or from the UNSW Business School. These UOC can also be made up of additional Actuarial Studies or Business School courses, or as part of a minor or major approved for the Bachelor of Actuarial Studies or Bachelor of Commerce. Note that, for some majors, additional study of courses above the minimum stipulated for the dual degree program may be required.
- Commerce/Economics 3521 (to ensure a minimum of 84 UOC of Economics courses are completed for the Economics component and a minimum of 96 UOC of UNSW Business School courses are required for the Commerce component. GEN courses cannot count as Business School electives.
General Education3502 - Commerce
Students must take at least 6 UOC of the following courses.
General Education3979 - Information Systems
Students must take at least 6 UOC of any General Education course. 12 UOC of General Education must be completed overall in the program.
Please note: Students enrolled in programs within the UNSW Business School cannot take General Education courses offered by the UNSW Business School (i.e. GENC code). These restrictions also apply to the following courses:

Maximum Level 1 UOC3502 - Commerce
Students may complete up to a maximum of 72 UOC of the following courses in the overall double degree, excluding Level 1 courses completed as part of the General Education requirement in double degree.
Minimum Faculty UOC3502 - Commerce
Students must complete a minimum of 96 UOC of the following courses.
Minimum Information Systems and Business UOC3979 - Information Systems
Students in the combined Commerce/Information Systems program must complete 180 UOC of Information Systems and Business courses.
Maximum Level 1 UOC Requirement3979 - Information Systems
No more than 72 UOC (not including 12 UOC of General Education courses) in Level 1 courses will be counted towards the degree overall.
LEVEL 2 AND 3 MATURITY REQUIREMENTS3502 - Commerce
Student must have completed 24 UOC before taking any level 2 courses.
Student must have completed 48 UOC before taking any level 3 courses.

Students must have completed 24 UOC before taking any Level 2 courses.
