A key challenge in building a reliable numerical geostorage model is integrating various reservoir description and geological tools to construct the model, and then employing analytical tools to validate it, ensuring the predictions it makes are reliable. The project course addresses this challenge by providing students with the opportunity to apply the integrated knowledge gained from various reservoir description and geological tools. Through hands-on experience with realistic, industry-related geostorage design and assessment, students validate their understanding, ensuring the reliability of predictions made by numerical geostorage models. Students will design geostorage to optimise injectivity, trapping and storage capacity. A risk assessment will be made using basin scale simulation to assess migration of injected fluids.
