This course in optimisation and modelling is designed for engineering students who wish to enhance their capabilities in systems engineering and acquire a versatile set of optimisation tools applicable to various engineering challenges. The course introduces fundamental concepts and methods in systems engineering through real-world projects addressing critical contemporary issues.

Key topics covered in the course include systems engineering, network modelling, optimisation and operations research methods, transit network design, and project management. By the end of the course, students will have developed a strong understanding of systems thinking and efficient methods for designing and optimising infrastructure systems.

Students will gain hands-on experience with Python programming and Microsoft Excel Solver to tackle real-world infrastructure problems. Additionally, the course features guest lectures from leading practitioners who will share their expertise on selected topics.
