As a pre-service teacher, this course prepares you with curriculum, content and pedagogical knowledge for teaching composition of oral, written and multimodal texts in the K-6 English syllabus. You will learn about children’s writing development processes from oral language, to letter, word and text composition. You will also learn about contemporary text creating practices required in the 21st century curriculum including drafting, composing and publishing. The course also introduces you to pedagogies to assist primary school students develop their creating competence including computer assisted pedagogies. In this course, you will learn to compose model texts to be used as teaching resources, analyse and evaluate teaching resources, and develop a program for teaching and assessing writing/creating with detailed lesson plans and activities to cater for learner diversity.
