This intermediate course introduces you to the knowledge and skills essential to interpreting fashion design drawings into a three-dimensional prototype. To do this, designers need to build an understanding of the physical human form and its relationship with the industrial methods used to manufacture garments. You will develop understanding of fashion materials, flat pattern making techniques and the construction finishes that are essential to create fashion prototypes to industrial standards. Moreover, in this course you will continue to examine fashion for sustainability and the circular economy through an exploration of the methods used to reduce textile waste during fashion production.
