Human civilization and human societies across the globe face today an unprecedented cluster of problems which call for a deep questioning of the foundations of contemporary social life. These include our relation with nature, the economic organisation of society, the rapidly changing face of work, the realities of and expectations about social relations (class, gender, race, ethnicity, coloniality), the role of technology (including AI), and many others. This course introduces you to contemporary work in Critical Social Philosophy that addresses contemporary problems and proposes better and more sustainable ways to organise human societies, and/or to classical or modern work that provides insights and ideas for doing so.
