Regional and General Aviation as sub-sector of aviation has unique challenges with consideration of factors such as relationships and interactions with other aviation bodies, communities and Government. It is important for those embarking on a career in aviation to have an understanding of these challenges and the strategic decision-making process involved in addressing such issues.

AVIA2801 - Regional and General Aviation covers the broad range of management decisions faced within the general, corporate and regional aviation sectors, and how they are impacted by Government and regulation. Students are introduced to the aviation management environment, and are given opportunities to learning about environmental systems and processes for operating and making economic decisions. The course also explores how the sector is regulated and the impact of these regulations.

Other topics explored include the management and operation of regional airports, recreational aviation, Remotely Piloted Aircraft (drones), and all other forms of general aviation. Case studies on specific regional airlines and airports as well as use cases of drones are presented and discussed to align students' theoretical and practical knowledge and skills acquisition.
