Overview

This course introduces you to urban landscape design theory. You will revisit concepts that have informed the design of cities and extend your knowledge via a critique of the spatial, cultural, and environmental qualities that shape them. Key theories will be introduced to you through the lens of landscape architectural practice. In doing so, you will understand the role of landscape architecture as a key driver of urban form and how you can engage with the social and environmental challenges of urbanisation.

Importantly, this course provides you with a conceptual foundation for years 3 and 4 design studios.

Prerequisite: LAND2272 or enrolment in the Landscape Architecture minor
