Handbook

This course is specifically designed for students enrolled in the Applied Exercise Science/ Clinical Exercise Physiology program and examines the pathophysiology, clinical presentation, impairments, activity limitations and participation restrictions arising from disease and trauma to the nervous system. The course consists of two modules: acute neurological disorders (including stroke, acquired brain injury and spinal cord injury) and neurodegenerative diseases (including Parkinson’s Disease, multiple sclerosis and motor neuron disease). You will develop competency in appropriate assessment of motor impairments and secondary adaptation and develop skills in appropriate planning and delivery of safe and effective exercise and activity-based interventions. The course includes a series of simulated case scenarios, online learning modules and practical hands-on workshops that focus on applying theoretical knowledge to sound clinical reasoning and practice.
