Handbook

This course intends to address both growing needs to discern useful information from data gathered by profit,  non-profit and government  organizations. As a result, students will be able to analyse and communicate data to support organizational decision-making by non-technical audiences by (i) exposing students to the various types of data that are collected and available in Australia and internationally, (ii) enabling students to both recognise useful information and decide how to collect new data when necessary, and (iii) enabling students to apply this knowledge to create effective visualisation and information communication strategies to various audiences. This will be done via problems and case-studies presented in class and discussed in tutorials, as well as creating ongoing discussions based on actual real-world examples through group assignments.
