Data Compression: Adaptive Coding, Information Theory; Text Compression (ZIP, GZIP, BZIP, etc); Burrows-Wheeler Transform and Backward Search; XML Compression Search: Indexing; Pattern Matching and Regular Expression Search; Distributed Querying; Fast Index Construction The lecture materials will be complemented by projects and assignments.
