Choreography, Performance and the Visual Arts surveys key moments in the relationship between dance and performance on the one hand, and the plastic or visual arts on the other. You will look at the historic avant-garde (Ballet Russes, the Futurists, Dada, Bauhaus and Antonin Artaud), and mid-century American precedents (John Cage, Robert Rauschenberg, Judson Dance Theater and Fluxus), and learn about the connections between the history of intermedial arts and current interest and activity in this field. Contemporary case studies include Tino Seghal, Xavier Le Roy, William Forsythe, Boris Charmatz and Maria Hassabi and local artists Agatha Gothe-Snape, Mike Parr and Shelley Lasica.
