This course encompasses a consideration of core curatorial, interpretative and managerial roles within the sphere of the art museum, and how they have evolved over time. It adopts the perspective of the educator or member of the public who consumes art museum services. You are provided with mechanisms to unpack the often opaque subtexts of the art museum domain so that they can construct opportunities for access beyond the level of 'what you see is what you get'. You will be introduced to museum concepts in order to engender autonomous relationships with a range of art museums of interest to the professional educator and educated individual.
