Handbook

This course is designed for students undertaking a full-time Honours year in Programs 4500 and 3972 in the School of Materials Science and Engineering, run over two semesters.  Materials Science Honours enables students to undertake a supervised Research Project under the direction of an academic staff member in the School, where the project introduces students to research and places emphasis on advanced disciplinary knowledge.  Over the course of the Honours project the student will gain experience in the use of specialised research techniques relevant to their chosen area, critical thinking, data collection and analysis, problem solving and scientific communication.  Assessment tasks include the submission of a Research Thesis based on substantial independent research activity.

This course is only available to students enrolled in the School of Materials Science and Engineering Honours Program, and the School's Honours Coordinator must approve enrolment.  Students undertaking Honours full-time will enrol in MATS4500 (along with MATS4503 and MATS4504) in their first semester then MATS4501 in their second semester.
