Objectives: To advance student knowledge and stimulate interest in contact lenses, paediatrics, dispensing and environmental vision. Brief curriculum: Contact lenses: Contact lens definitions and terminology, contact lens materials, rigid lens parameter measurement, contact lens care and maintenance, insertion and removal of contact lenses. Children's vision: creating a child-friendly environment, history taking, the development of the child and vision, communicating with children and those with special needs, child protection legislation, and vision screenings. Environmental vision: Industry and vision standards, legislation and risk management, ergonomics, lighting, eye protection and risk management, and fatigue.
