Program structure The Master of Engineering by research program requires a minimum three academic semesters (i.e. 1.5 years) of full-time study and the preparation of a thesis. The length of a Master by research thesis normally should not exceed 60,000 words of text.

Conditions of Award

The degree of Master of Engineering by research may be awarded by the Council on the recommendation of the UNSW Canberra Higher Degree Committee (hereinafter referred to as the Committee) to a candidate who has demonstrated ability to undertake research by the submission of a thesis embodying the results of an original investigation.
