Learning Outcomes

1.
Graduates will be able to demonstrate broad and advanced disciplinary knowledge and skills in mathematical science and statistics;

Graduates will be able to communicate effectively to a range of audiences both in written and oral forms, and be capable of independent and collaborative enquiry.
3.
Graduates will be able to demonstrate analytical and problem solving skills in a broad range of mathematical and statistical problems;
4.
Graduates will be able to demonstrate enquiry-based learning and ways of thinking to mathematical or statistical problems.

Students must complete 48 UOC when taken as a standalone program.

Progression Requirements

Students who have completed 24 UOC of the Graduate Certificate (7659), and have a WAM of 70 or higher, may apply to transfer into the Master of Mathematics (8719), Master of Statistics (8750), Master of Biostatistics (8751), or Master of Financial Mathematics (8161) and will receive up to 24 UOC of Advanced Standing.
Students who have completed 24 UOC of this program may exit with a Graduate Certificate in Mathematics and Statistics (7659).
Students who have completed the full 48 UOC of the Graduate Diploma (5659), and have a WAM of 70 or higher, may apply to transfer into this Masters program and will receive up to 48 UOC of Advanced Standing.

Additional Information

Each candidate's proposed program of study requires the approval of the Head of School or Nominee.

Students may choose from a wide variety of courses within the School of Mathematics and Statistics, or elsewhere within the University. Enrolment in courses chosen from outside the School of Mathematics and Statistics must be approved by the Head of the School or Nominee and is subject to a maximum of 12 UOC.
