Program Structure
72 Units of Credit:

Students must complete 72 UOC as a standalone program.

Elective List Information

Australian Securities and Investment Commission RG146 knowledge and skill requirements at Tier 1 Specialist in Financial Planning, Securities, Managed Investments, Superannuation, Insurance, Margin Lending [requires FINS5512, FINS5513, FINS5510, and FINS5537]. Tier 1 Derivatives specialisation compliance requires FINS5535 as an elective.

Award with Excellence

The Award with Excellence is awarded in coursework masters programs, including Masters (Extension) but with the exception of Masters (Extended) such as JD and MD, when a Weighted Average Mean (WAM) of at least 80% has been achieved and at least 50% of the requirements of the award are completed at UNSW. All eligible programs will award 'with Excellence' except in special circumstances where approval of Academic Board has been given for a program to opt out.

Flexible Study Options

The Master of Financial Planning courses may be completed in a face-to-face mode or in online mode. Both modes have access to an online course website where you will find all of the study materials, resources and learning activities for your studies.

All the Finance courses in the program are offered face-to-face at UNSW Kensington Campus and the courses delivered online are: the core finance courses, the legal foundation core course, plus a selection of flexible core and elective courses
