Overview

The Master of International Public Health/Master of Infectious Disease (MIPH/MIDI) Intelligence dual program is an innovative approach to postgraduate health education enabling candidates to gain a better understanding of infectious diseases in the era of new and emerging disease threats, and management approaches for the identification, assessment, prevention and control … For more content click the Read More button below. The dual MIPH/MIDI program provides students with advanced disciplinary knowledge and skills to undertake infectious diseases prevention and control and health services management roles in government, community and health service settings with a focus on international settings. The program fosters sophisticated understanding and application across a complex body of multidisciplinary knowledge including infectious diseases intelligence, policy design, implementation and evaluation. Graduates are equipped with the specialised skills and concepts needed for professional practice in the prevention, identification, assessment, and control of infectious diseases. The program fosters judgment-ready practitioners who can contribute to improving population health and to work across a range of contexts including ministries and departments of health, government and non-government and voluntary organisations, military and first responder organisations, primary care and community healthcare services in both public and private sectors. All students in this degree will be required to complete three electives in International Health.

Academic Practice: International Students

International students from non-English speaking countries enrolled in the full time program in Sydney (Kensington campus) are required to take the following additional preparatory course in their first semester. This course is available for all students to assist to gain maximum benefit from their study. The course is made available at no charge to students and does not contribute to the UOC requirements of the degree.

The Award with Excellence is awarded in coursework masters programs, including Masters (Extension) but with the exception of Masters (Extended) such as JD and MD, when a Weighted Average Mean (WAM) of at least 80% has been achieved and at least 50% of the requirements of the award are completed at UNSW. All eligible programs will award 'with Excellence' except in special circumstances where approval of Academic Board has been given for a program to opt out.
