Program Structure
96 Units of Credit:

Students must complete 96 UOC as a standalone program.

The program currently comprises two streams which include:
- 36 UoC professional development electives (all fourth year BE Honours courses) - disciplinary courses
- 30 UoC postgraduate specialisation electives - advanced disciplinary courses
- 12 UoC engineering and technical management
- 12 UoC compulsory postgraduate project - research/capstone, advanced disciplinary
- 6 UoC compulsory postgraduate design course - design, advanced disciplinary
- 60 days of industrial training in the relevant discipline.

Industrial Experience

Completion of 60 days of industrial experience related to the specialisation is a further requirement of the program.

Award with Excellence

The Award with Excellence is awarded in coursework masters programs, including Masters (Extension) but with the exception of Masters (Extended) such as JD and MD, when a Weighted Average Mean (WAM) of at least 80% has been achieved and at least 50% of the requirements of the award are completed at UNSW. All eligible programs will award 'with Excellence' except in special circumstances where approval of Academic Board has been given for a program to opt out.

Computing Requirements

All software required for coursework is provided on the computers in the School computer laboratories. Some students find it advantageous to buy their own computer and software so that they can work at home. Some external courses may require students to own their own computer with Microsoft Office or equivalent. Specialist software packages that are required for external courses will be provided as part of the course pack to students.

Award of Degrees

A student who completes the requirements for the degree shall receive at graduation a testamur for the degree of Master of Engineering.

Administration of Programs

A student's program will be administed by the relevant school within the Faculty of Engineering.
