Program Structure
72 Units of Credit:

Students must complete 72 UOC as a standalone program.

The program structure includes two specialisations, each of which requires two foundation courses, two additional disciplinary and eight (or 48 UOC) advanced disciplinary courses. All these courses are offered at postgraduate level (MINE8xxx).

The Award with Excellence is awarded in coursework masters programs, including Masters (Extension) but with the exception of Masters (Extended) such as JD and MD, when a Weighted Average Mean (WAM) of at least 80% has been achieved and at least 50% of the requirements of the award are completed at UNSW. All eligible programs will award 'with Excellence' except in special circumstances where approval of Academic Board has been given for a program to opt out.

Additional Information

Electives: A set of electives developed specifically for this program will be available to the students to choose from. Selection of Electives from outside this set will require approval of the program authority.

Award of the Degree: A student who completes the requirements for the degree shall receive at graduation a testamur for the degree of Master of Mining Engineering.

Administration of the Program: The program will be administered by the School of Mining Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering.

Course Delivery: The courses for this program will be delivered by the School of Mining Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering.

Enrolment: An application to enrol as a candidate for the master’s degree shall be lodged with the Registrar at least two calendar months before the commencement of the first semester.
