This course has as its subject matter the phenomenon of global inequality and the quest for justice. Empirical topics to be considered include a selection of the various dimensions of inequality and injustice, such as poverty, migration, trade relations, human rights, the environment, and gender relations. What, if anything, should and could be done about these problems, by whom, and why? The course aims to assist students to develop their own positions on these question by drawing on key thinkers from Political Science and International Relations. Global justice will be viewed through an ethical and normative lens as well as from the perspective of the need for professionals in the field of strategy and security to have the situational awareness needed to identify and assess risks, threats, and sources of insecurity.
