In this course, you will learn how to solve real world problems in clinical health practice. This course is divided into two parts, each operating in parallel.
In Part 1, you will study the theoretical frameworks of innovation and creative problem solving and work in small interprofessional teams to solve a health stakeholder’s real-world problem. These problems may come from a government health facility, a professional organisation, community organisations, or the private sector and will focus on quality improvement. Projects range from improving diagnosis or patient care, increasing or improving patient access to care, the patient/carer experience, improving efficiency and service delivery, to disease or injury prevention. Using the critical appraisal skills you have acquired, in teams you will analyse the problem and develop a proposed solution.
In Part 2, you will continue to develop your skills in cultural safety and learn advanced communication skills to help you manage challenging clinical environments including handling aggressive patients and responding to workplace harassment.
