This course introduces the principles of the emerging field of Security Engineering, applying engineering principles and practices to the design, operation, and assurance of secure systems. Students will engage in a systematic, analytic and reflective approach to designing and assuring reliable secure systems from unreliable insecure components, as well as understanding how systems can fail and the nature of the cryptographic components from which modern digital systems are constructed.
