TABL5933 is a distinctive Work Integrated Learning (WIL) course at UNSW, blending academic learning with practical experience through participation in the UNSW Tax and Business Advisory Clinic. Students commit a number of full days (9am-5pm) to the Clinic and attend scheduled seminars, offering free financial literacy and tax advisory services to individuals and small businesses facing significant financial hardship. Guided by CA/CPA/IPA-qualified clinical supervisors, students engage directly with real clients, conducting interviews, strategising, managing files, undertaking research, drafting documents, and, where suitable, participating in objections and advocacy efforts. Additionally, the course involves students in delivering outreach education workshops, aiming to empower financially vulnerable individuals and communities. This immersive experience not only enhances students' professional and technical skills but also cultivates critical thinking, communication, teamwork, research, innovation, creativity, and leadership abilities, all while contributing positively to society's disadvantaged communities.
