Although pharmacists are not currently able to prescribe independently, this course will provide you with the skills required if needed and will build on the current “prescribing” of pharmacy and Pharmacist Only medicines. The competencies developed in this course are based on the NPS MedicineWise Prescribing Competencies Framework and the General Pharmaceutical Council, UK (GPhC) education and training standards. As well as preparing you for future clinical roles, this course equips you with skills and knowledge required towards attainment of advanced level practitioner status under the advanced practice framework.   NB: whilst this course will provide you with the foundational skills and knowledge of independent prescribing, it is anticipated that there will be further training and experiential learning requirements to be completed if independent prescribing is added to pharmacist’s scope of practice.
