The BABS Graduate Diploma program is for graduates who wish to obtain specialist training and experience in a particular area of science. This is one of the courses used to fulfil the research project requirements of the Biotechnology and Biomolecular Science stream in the Graduate Diploma (Research) program. It consists of no formal classes; instead students meet with their supervisor and undertake largely independent research. Students also have to complete 3 coursework subjects. All students have a supervisor and are assigned an examiner in the School of BABS. In their first term students will submit a literature review to their supervisor for feedback on their writing and critique of the available literature. Students are then expected to present a seminar and submit a written thesis at the completion of their project. Graduate Diploma projects range from hypothesis driven “blue sky” research that advances human knowledge, to application-focused research that has potential medical and industrial benefits for society. By investigating and understanding life at the molecular and cellular level, students will therefore help solve real-world challenges.
