Handbook

This course studies the process of China’s economic development, in particular the economic reforms since 1978, with a focus on Chinese institutions.  Topics to be examined through the lens of standard economic theory and then applied to the case of China include trade policy, agricultural policy, population policy, industrial policy, and political economy.  Through this course students will gain insight into the application of economic theory and econometric methods to understand specific issues related to the past and future economic development of China.
