This studio, Capstone 2, builds on Capstone 1 by guiding the development of your your design proposition and research agenda into a fully resolved detailed design proposal. The detailed design proposal will be informed by consideration of the broader city scale landscape systems, including geology, hydrology, vegetation, habitat, transportation, open space, infrastructure and built form. Through rigorous design investigation, you will consider how these systems exert environmental impacts which affect quality of life at many scales - the metropolitan, the city, the precinct, the neighbourhood as well as local streets and spaces. In a suite of directed design decisions, you will adopt a future scenario to guide and challenge your design thinking in terms of scale and complexity. During the course you will develop sophisticated knowledge of the relationship between landscape systems and urban settlements and extend your abilities to plan and design landscapes as integrated components of city and metropolitan systems.
