Handbook

This course will introduce students to Artificial Intelligence techniques, with particular focus on deep learning, and their applications to risk and insurance. Particular importance will be on various deep learning algorithms and how they can be combined with other actuarial techniques in order to solve business problems in insurance and risk management including in pricing, reserving, capital management, and insurance business processes improvements. Ethical considerations of AI models will also be discussed. Students will be expected to understand the deep learning algorithms considered, their relationship with other actuarial techniques, as well as be able to fit and evaluate various deep learning models for actuarial applications using appropriate software.
