Overview

Conventional Warfare, or warfare by convention, is the dominant Western approach to converting tactical military action into strategic and political ends and is challenged by irregular forms of warfare at the strategic level. Western tactical dominance has encouraged the adoption of irregular approaches to generating strategic effect. This course explores the employment of irregular warfare strategies and the forces that carry them out. In so doing, it implicitly aims to assist a Western force in developing counters to such threats. This course forms a core course for the Masters in Special Operations / Irregular Warfare, and is an elective in the Strategy and Security and War Studies programs.
