This course introduces a number of theoretical lenses for understanding contemporary design practice. The course takes you through key aspects of the current profession and discipline of design, explaining their histories. The course will focus on the principles and techniques of experts designing around the world. The course involves a series of researched case studies, giving you experiences of historically and culturally distinct ways of conducting design. Themes include: Craft and Design, Design Management, Consumerism, Design Education Institutions, Social Design, Design Futures, Design Methods, Post-Industrial Design. By the end of the course, you will have a working familiarity with the breadth of design’s past and present, theory and practice
