Exercise Physiologists provide safe and effective exercise interventions for preventative health care, as well as for people with chronic medical conditions, injuries, or disabilities. In the Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology, you will study a range of clinical courses including exercise oncology and cardiovascular, neurological, and musculoskeletal rehabilitation as well as other conditions for which there is evidence that exercise can improve the client’s clinical status.   This degree has a strong focus on interprofessional education, evidence-based and reflective practice, ethical behaviour, and the development of high-level clinical reasoning and professional communication skills. The program includes a minimum 500 hours of clinical placements and will prepare you for a wide range of clinical and non-clinical careers.   The combined degree will provide graduates with accreditation as an Exercise Scientist (AES) and an Exercise Physiologist (AEP) with the national governing body, Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA).   Accreditation  This program has received Qualifying Accreditation from ESSA.

Double Degree Structure

Students must complete 216 UOC.

NOTE: This is a full-time program. Students are strongly encouraged to enrol in a full study load of 48 UOC across Years 1-3, 54 UOC in Year 4 and 18 UOC in Term 1 of Year 5. Only in exceptional or unavoidable circumstances will students be allowed to enrol in a reduced study load across any given year. Please contact an Academic Advisor if such circumstances exist.

You are responsible for ensuring you enrol in courses according to your program requirements and advice from your Program Authority. myUNSW enrolment checks that you have met enrolment requirements such as pre-requisites for individual courses but not that you are enrolling in courses that will count towards your program.

Non Standard Progression

Students who do not meet progression requirements will be expected to meet with the Program Authority to develop an individual exit plan. Students who have met the requirements for the Bachelor of Applied Exercise Science (3890) may transfer to this program to exit.

Students are permitted to attempt the same course a maximum of three times. A student who fails the same course for the third time will not be permitted to re-enrol.

Award on Completion

This program is offered as a 4.4 year Bachelor of Applied Exercise Science/ Master of Clinical Exercise Physiology double-degree. A qualification will be awarded on completion of the 4.4 year program.
