Program Summary
The Bachelor of Construction Management and Property is a four-year full-time (or equivalent part-time) program of study which provides for students to develop the management-ready skills for specialist careers in Building, Property Development, Quantity Surveying, and Facilities Management.
The program is offered over a minimum of eight semesters, leading to the award of the degree of Bachelor of Construction Management and Property (BCMP). The program is structured as follows:

- Year 1 consists of a fixed program of compulsory courses.
- Years 2-4 consist of a mix of compulsory courses, Interdisciplinary Learning Courses, electives drawn from a specified pool of courses and open electives.
- Year 4 also offers the possibility of a thesis, and includes general education.
Program Objectives and Graduate Attributes
Students will acquire a sound foundation of knowledge in Construction Management, Property Development, Quantity Surveying, and/or Facilities Management. There is a broad emphasis on the technologies and processes of construction, and management techniques specific to the construction and property industries.

Honours
To be eligible for the award of Honours, students must successfully complete Thesis. The award of Honours is based on the overall weighted average mark (WAM), with special emphasis on the Thesis mark.
Academic Rules
1. The degree of Bachelor of Construction Management and Property is awarded at either Pass or Honours level after the successful completion of a minimum of 192 units of credit.

Depth Component - 168UoC
- 96 units of core courses, being all those prescribed core courses as outlined in the program structure
- 48 units of credit from the specified pool electives (Students undertaking the thesis option are only required to complete 24 UoC from the specified pool electives)
- 12 UoC of FBE electives from the list of Interdisciplinary Learning Courses
- 12 UoC of other FBE electives. These do not need to be taken from the Interdisciplinary Core Course list but can be chosen from any elective offered by the faculty
Breadth Component - 24UoC
- 12 units of open (free) electives, selected in accordance with the faculty regulations for undergraduate study in the Faculty of the Built Environment
- 12 units of General Education in accordance with University requirements (see below)
2b. To fulfil the requirements for any of the specialisations (streams) i.e. Building, Quantity Surveying, Property Development and Facilities Management students must complete:

- 96 units of core courses, being all those prescribed core courses as outlined in the program structure
- 60 units of credit being the set of courses specified for the specialisation being undertaken. (Students undertaking the Thesis option are only required to complete 36 UoC of the specialisation electives but their thesis topic must be related to the specialisation that the student is undertaking. The Program Director must endorse this substitution.)
- 12 units of BE electives from the list of Interdisciplinary Learning Courses
Breadth component - 24 UoC
- 12 units of open (free) electives, selected in accordance with the faculty regulations for undergraduate study in the Faculty of the Built Environment.

3. The standard duration of the program is 4 years consisting of 8 semesters of full-time study (24 units of credit per semester) plus the required work experience.

Open (free) Electives
Open electives can be chosen from any courses offered by any Faculty at UNSW for which the student meets prerequisite or other enrolment requirments. The exceptions are those specific General Education GEN prefix courses which cannot be counted as open electives. Open electives do not need to be taken outside the Faculty, students can choose BE electives as open electiives.
BE Electives
BE Electives must be chosen from elective courses offered by the Faculty of Built environment they are identified by a BENV prefix.
Progression
In the event of failure in one or more courses, students may carry the failed course(s) provided that:
- prerequisite courses have been completed to the satisfaction of the Program Director.
- the total number of courses taken at any time does not exceed 6 including General Education.
- the total contact hours do not exceed 20 per week.

This program prepares students for professional and executive employment in the construction and property industries. Students get to tailor their educational program for a management-ready career that suits their individual goals. Careers might typically include working as a builder and/or developer, property and development consultant, on-site construction executive, overall project manager, quantity surveyor, facilities manager, building material and component researcher, and/or contract administrator.

The award of the degree, Bachelor of Construction Management and Property is recognised for admission to membership by:
