Award(s):
Bachelor of Science (Major)
Stream Outline
Biology is the study of life and living organisms.The School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences offers expertise in the fields of botany, ecology, marine biology and zoology. Botany explores aspects of both green and nongreen plants and their relation to the environment. An understanding of ecology is necessary for conservation. Marine biology is about life in the ocean, estuaries and other coastal environments. Zoology looks at the structure, behaviour, habits, genetics, distribution, evolution and classification of animals.
Stream Structure
A major in Biology is comprised of 72 units of credit of courses as follows:

Notes
- BIOS2021 can be substituted with BIOS2621 if students' WAM is sufficient and / or there is space in BIOS2621.
- BIOS6671 can be substituted with BIOS3671 if students' WAM is sufficient and / or there is space in BIOS3671.
- The School of Biological, Earth and Environmental Sciences maintain enrolment guides for many sub-disciplines of Biology: these are available from the BSB Office (G27 BioScience Building).
Honours
Students who have studied Biology and wish to continue on to Honours, may be interested in Honours in Biological Science, Botany or Zoology.
