Overview

The course deals with two important categories of advanced materials, namely functional materials and composite materials. The composite materials part will focus on the following topics:  Properties of fibre reinforced polymer matrix composites, metal matrix composites, ceramic matrix composites; fibres, matrices and fibre/matrix interface; mechanical behaviour of fibre reinforced composites; fracture and durability of composites; composite structure and design; composite manufacture and recycling.
