|||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
DescriptionThis course is designed to provide students with an understanding of the key drivers of the commercial air transport industry and the industries impact on society as a whole. Specifically, this course examines (1) the inter-related nature of air transport and other sectors of an economy, and (2) the interactions of air transport with broader socio-economic, tourism and environmental issues. Emphasis is placed on understanding the spatial distribution of air transport supply and demand, and the closely related and often unevenly distributed socio-economic and environmental impacts. Students will be encouraged to apply concepts and techniques learnt in class through reviews of air transport issues identified in the local and international media. The course will encourage students to think about air transport from a variety of stakeholders' perspectives.
